Variable effects of mycorrhizal fungi on predator–prey dynamics under field conditions

چکیده
Interactions between herbivores and their predators are shaped, in part, by plant phenotype. Consequently, ubiquitous symbionts of plants below-ground, such as arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), may influence interactions above-ground prey altering However, the ecological relevance below-ground organisms on predator–prey under field conditions remains unclear. We assessed how AMF herbivore–predator through a experiment. planted two milkweed species (Asclepias curassavica Asclepias incarnata) provided with different amounts inoculum (zero, medium, high) randomized block design. added aphids to reduced predator pressure weekly for 5 weeks evaluate effects recruitment. then allowed re-establish naturally remainder season examine whether AMF-mediated variation recruitment influenced suppression aphid populations. Arbuscular availability soils mediated predaceous midge flies Aphidoletes aphidimyza Aphis nerii, but were species-specific. On A. curassavica, mid-season, midges recruited most strongly medium least high availability. In contrast, each killed fewer increasing density plants, more plants. combination, mortality rates imposed greatest followed zero By comparison, incarnata, was strongest weakest had no effect number per midge, relative density, so mirrored Rates decline populations following recolonization associated densities, well lacewing syrphid which unaffected Therefore, population not simple function AMF–midge interactions. Our findings demonstrate that has pervasive, complex, predator–herbivore dynamics field.

Effects of application of olive mill by-products on chickpea yield and their symbiosis with mycorrhizal fungi under arid conditions
This study investigated the effects of soil amendment with olive mill by-products (Jift) on growthof chickpea and their symbiosis with Vesicular arbascular (VA) fungi. A split plot design with threereplications was used, in which soil treatments (methyl bromide fumigated, fungicide, and untreatedcontrol) were assigned to main plots and soil-Jift mixtures(Jift: Soil; 0:10, 1:9, 2:8, 3:7, and 4:6...
متن کاملInoculant of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (Rhizophagus clarus) Increase Yield of Soybean and Cotton under Field Conditions
Nutrient availability is an important factor in crop production, and regular addition of chemical fertilizers is the most common practice to improve yield in agrosystems for intensive crop production. The use of some groups of microorganisms that have specific activity providing nutrients to plants is a good alternative, and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) enhance plant nutrition by providin...
متن کاملSelecting Native Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi to Promote Cassava Growth and Increase Yield under Field Conditions
The use of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal (AMF) inoculation in sustainable agriculture is now widespread worldwide. Although the use of inoculants consisting of native AMF is highly recommended as an alternative to commercial ones, there is no strategy to allow the selection of efficient fungal species from natural communities. The objective of this study was (i) to select efficient native AMF s...

One of the new methods for optimum management and increasing the efficiency of water resources utilization in agricultural uses is the use of irrigation methods. Considering the importance of this issue, this research was carried out to determine the effect of mycorrhizal fungi on the yield of sunflower cultivars under drought tension conditions and as split split plots based on randomized comp...
متن کاملEffects of Inoculation with Mycorrhizal Fungi on Growth and Heavy Metals Concentrations in Two Wheat Cultivars under Salt Stress Condition
The soil salinity and the diffusion of potentially toxic chemicals to the soil environment through industrial and agricultural activities are known as important factors affecting the productivity of crop plants. Thus, an efficient strategy to increase crop yield, and to improve human and environmental health, is necessary to mitigate the impacts of these detrimental factors. Accordingly, a fact...
